Have you heard our great news?
Hamilton Taggart Business Advisors are the naming rights sponsor of the World Surf League
6000 point Qualifying Series Women’s event in 2016!!!
We are proud to be amongst a group of 73 community minded hunter organisations in this historic crowd funding initiative. The initiative reached out to the Hunter business community to contribute a few dollars each, to together fund the event. In a world first, each business who contributed then had the opportunity to be drawn from the barrel and win naming rights for the event.
At a breakfast on Friday we were announced as the lucky winners, below are a few words from Ross Hamilton Taggart…
“As I write this I am still in a state of shock after winning the crowd funding competition.
The new look Hamilton Taggart Business Advisors are the naming rights sponsor of the 2016 World Surf League 6000 point Qualifying Series women’s event scheduledfor Merewether Beach next February.
The annual women’s surfing event remains an important part of the long running Newcastle Surfest festival. Surfing and going to the beach are part of Newcastle folk law, with the region boasting some of the best beach and surf breaks in Australia, with Merewether Beach being one of the best.
As a local business owner I was happy to be involved with the sponsorship of this important event. Supporting the continued growth of Surfest and women’s sport was also a high priority for Melanie Hamilton, my business associate, and future partner in the accountancy business of Hamilton Taggart Business Advisors.
My family have been residents of Merewether for over 90 years and have always had a strong affinity with Merewether. My father Alan, who turns 87 in December this year, was born behind the Beaches Hotel in Ranclaud Street and he has never lived more than 500 metres from Merewether Beach during his life.
The Hamilton Taggart family has had 4 generations as members of Merewether Surf Club. I started young and have been a member for over 45 years and still serve as Treasurer of the club. There is no better place in the world than Merewether Beach, once you have experienced the joy of the surf and sand you don’t want to live any other place in the world.
You will understand now why I was so excited about winning this crown funding competition. I with my staff and family will get to experience the excitement of Surfest first hand and be part of a unique event in February 2016. Bring it on – I can’t wait to see a huge crowd that Sunday watching the final of the women’s event at Merewether Beach, knowing that my staff and family will also be there and sharing this moment in time.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at Surfest 2016, and during the lead up to this event.”
